Research Interests

My research centers in three areas:

  1. Systematics, biostratigraphy, and paleobiogeography of Upper Devonian (Frasnian) stromatoporoids of the Great Basin of Nevada and Utah.
  2. Paleobiogeography of Devonian stromatoporoids, particularly in relation to the Frasnian-Famennian mass extinction.
  3. Systematics and paleobiogeography of the Lower Devonian (Lochkovian) stromatoporoid genus Habrostroma, with Judith A. Burry-Stock.

Also important is my work with Heldur Nestor on the recovery of stromatoporoids following the Late Ordovician mass extinction. This includes study of Lower Silurian stromatoporoids from New York, Ohio, Michigan, Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Alabama.

As the research above winds down, I plan to return to the study of Upper Devonian stromatoporoids from Iowa (in part with Melanie Turner).
