This internship is intended to provide the student with skills and experience working in the fields of geology and energy resources, working with scientists and researchers at the Geological Survey of Alabama, and provide a stipend while they are working to complete their geological sciences degree.


Consideration for these internships will be given priority to junior- and senior-level geological sciences majors (BS or BSG) and geological sciences graduate students (MS or PhD).

Application Process

The following materials must be submitted:

  • a letter of interest
  • a┬ástatement of commitment to the internship
  • copy of geology coursework transcripts and GPA
  • particular accomplishments/activities/experience beyond coursework (one-page limit)
  • faculty reference letters (maximum of three)
