Dr. Doug Jones was a beloved leader in the University of Alabama community, serving as professor and chair of Alabamaās Department of Geological Sciences and asĀ dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. This scholarship was endowed in his honor through the generous donations of friends and alumni of the department.
The donors and department seek to honor Dr. Jonesā memory by investing these funds in the support of promising geology majors with the goal of promoting the discipline within and beyond The University of Alabama.
Criteria
We seek applications from all new and active undergraduate geology majors.
Application Process
Applications may be submitted at any time to the department chair orĀ undergraduate program director (via email or paper). Incoming students are encouraged to apply prior to enrollment at The University of Alabama.
